Assume Vivid Astro Focus/AVAF is an artist collective founded in 2001 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
AVAF has created vibrant art across the world; from the famous Wynwood Walls in Miami to murals in NYC, Tokyo, and other cities across the globe. They have been featured in prominent museums and galleries, as well as been featured in Art Forum, Frieze, Flash Art, L'Uomo Vogue, V Magazine, and W Magazine.
Personal expression and a lust for life are prominently emphasized in their projects. AVAF works in a vast array of media, including painting, drawing, installations, video, sculpture, neon, wallpaper, tapestries, and performance, and often confronts gender, politics, and embedded cultural codes through an overabundance of shapes and colors.
AVAF re-appropriated one of their wallpapers from 2004 and one of their paintings on a duplex sheet of kraft paper - for which Pom Rugs was able to do a rendition of their paintings' peeled surface revealing its inner corrugated structure.
They have collaborated with designers from Comme des Garçons to Lady Gaga, who incorporated their art into her holiday display at Barneys New York.
